We have been having the best time beneath Old Bald during Main Session! Our activities are well underway, and our campers are making the most of every moment at Camp. We wanted to give you a glimpse into the day-to-day happenings in some of our activities. In Riding, campers learned all about the important work that happens before getting in the saddle, including grooming, tacking, and preparing their horses for a ride. Over at the tennis courts, campers have been working to pass levels, with many setting their sights on reaching the highest level: Ace! In our visual arts classes, campers are beginning their first projects of the summer. In Stained Glass, campers have been learning the process from start to finish as they plan, design, and begin creating beautiful pieces.

Rehearsals for our Musical this session, The Drowsy Chaperone, have officially begun! After auditions, the cast list was posted, and campers have been hard at work in Castle memorizing lines, learning choreography, and blocking scenes. We can't wait to watch the production come together throughout the summer. Our Music classes have been busy as well! Both Ukulele and Guitar students have learned the basics and are now working on songs. One of our favorite things is hearing music all around camp as girls practice on cabin porches, between activities, or whenever they have a few extra minutes. A few days a week, we also have Free Swim after fourth period! Campers love the chance to cool off in the lake and spend time with friends and cabinmates!

We ended our busy Monday with one of Camp's all-time favorites: BINGO!!! Our June Session staff had the brilliant idea to move Bingo from the Castle to the Tennis Courts, and it was such a hit that we decided to keep the tradition going for Main Session. As everyone made their way up to the courts decked out in their Brights and Tights attire, it was clear we were in for an entertaining night.

Between the prizes and dance parties, the evening was full of energy from start to finish. Our wonderful Evening Program Queens kept the fun going all night long as they emceed the event and served as our DJs, making sure there was never a dull moment. It was the perfect way to wrap up a busy day at Camp!

Chug-a-wump,

One of our favorite evening programs made its return this week… Minute to Win It! With 60 seconds on the clock, campers, JCs, and even staff took on a whole lineup of hilarious challenges. The night was hosted by our wonderful Evening Program Princesses, with the help of a few of our JCs, and it did not disappoint. We kicked things off with a game that seemed simple: tossing a ping pong ball into a stack of cups. The catch? Each time you made it, you had to stack another cup on top, balancing it on the ball and making your tower taller, wobblier, and much harder to manage.

Our 5-week session is off and running! Between new campers, returning faces, and all our favorite traditions, Camp already feels full of energy as everyone settles in under Old Bald. We are so fortunate to have 24 Junior Counselors this session! With a group that size, they’re split into two groups and rotate between learning JC curriculum and helping teach activities. They also each have buddy cabins! When a counselor is on her day off, a JC steps in to spend time with the cabin. It is always so much fun to watch the campers learn who their JC is! With a group this big, no amount of team bonding is ever enough! One of the best (and funniest) ways we’ve found to connect as a cabin is through the low ropes course. Over the past few days, both JC groups have had the chance to take on the course, practicing teamwork, building trust, and sharing plenty of laughs along the way.

Main Session is here! We had an amazing Opening Day yesterday, and these campers jumped right into everything at Camp with so much enthusiasm. It has been so fun to see everyone settling in and already embracing Camp life. It is always so special to watch reunions of old friends and the forming of new friendships. Opening Day was full of unpacking, activity sign-ups, and our Opening Campfire, when the whole camp gathers to sing our favorite camp songs together to kick off the session. We had our first full day of activities today, with campers diving into their day-to-day Camp schedule, and we ended the night with one of our favorite evening programs: Deck the Counselor! Each cabin creates a skit, dance, or performance, and putting it together on this first full day of Camp serves as a great early bonding opportunity. It’s always amazing to see creativity come to life so quickly and to watch cabins begin to find their personalities. Our lovely JCs (all 24 this session!) hosted the evening, bringing great energy (and jokes) as they introduced and cheered on every cabin while we watched them perform from youngest to oldest.
