At Camp Merrie-Woode, summer positions are more than just jobs—they’re a chance to make a real impact. Our staff help create the kind of summer that shapes confidence, friendships, and lifelong memories for the next generation of girls. Spend your days in a beautiful natural setting, working alongside a supportive community and helping campers grow, try new things, and discover their unique talents.

  • Cabin Counselors

    Cabin counselors serve as their campers’ primary caregiver, guiding campers in personal growth and development throughout the session. Cabin counselors are responsible for teaching activities during the day and participating in Evening Program. Cabin counselors live in rustic cabins with 4 – 10 campers.

  • Non-Cabin Counselors

    Non-Cabin counselors are staff members with advanced training or specialized skills in specific activity areas. Non-Cabin counselors are responsible for planning, teaching, coordinating, and carrying out a specific activity during the day and participating in Evening Program. During non-teaching time, non-cabin counselors work on activity planning and preparation. Many of our Horseback Riding, technical theatre, and Mountaineering staff members serve as non-cabin counselors. Due to additional activity responsibilities, non-cabin counselors live in accommodations with other non-cabin counselors.

  • Horseback Riding Specialist

    Merrie-Woode’s Horseback Riding Program is accredited by the Certified Horsemanship Association (CHA) and focuses on hunt-seat riding, offering instruction in ring work, jumping, and trail riding. Classes are skills based, and lessons range from novice to advanced instruction. Horseback Riding Specialists are responsible for taking care of our horses, maintaining open and covered arenas, and teaching activity lessons. Applicants must be at least 18 years old with adequate horse knowledge and riding experience. Advanced Wilderness First Aid and CPR certifications are recommended. Applicants with solid teaching experience and CHA certified instructorship will be highly considered.

  • Lead River Specialist

    Merrie-Woode’s whitewater boating program has been around for over 50 years and focuses on quality instruction in both kayaks and canoes. The Lead River Specialist is responsible for overseeing all aspects of our river trips, including overseeing all river trip personnel, logistics, curriculum and whitewater instruction, equipment, and risk management practices. Applicants must be 21 years old with advanced technical proficiency in whitewater canoeing and kayaking. ACA L4: Whitewater Kayak Instructor certification and the ability to paddle, teach, and rescue in Class III+ whitewater is required. Applicants with a Wilderness First Responder certification and solid teaching experience will be highly considered.

  • Nurse

    Merrie-Woode nurses are responsible for administering camper and staff medications and operating the infirmary during the summer season. Camp nurses live in the infirmary and attend meals with the entire camp community. Applicants must be Registered Nurses and ideally can commit to working for 1-5 weeks at Camp.

  • Photographer & Media Specialist

    Merrie-Woode’s Photographer and Media Specialist is responsible for capturing photos throughout the Camp day, designing a photo slideshow for each session, writing copy and compiling photos for social media posts, and assisting the Program Office Manager and Communications Coordinator with media related responsibilities. The Photographer and Media Specialist is typically non-cabin staff. Applicants must be proficient in operating a DSLR camera. Applicants who can commit to every camp session will be highly considered.

  • Support Staff

    Merrie-Woode has summer positions available in Facilities and Maintenance, Laundry, Housekeeping, and Barn Maintenance. Support Staff can expect to work 40 hours per week. Housing is not included.
