EXECUTIVE DIRECTORS

FROST & ROBIN WALKER

Frost and Robin McKinney Walker are our Executive Directors. They oversee the team at Camp Merrie-Woode and are incredibly excited about the job.


Robin began her Merrie-Woode journey as a camper in 1989, became a Captain in 1996, and served as a cabin counselor and boating instructor for several summers. Originally from Winter Park, FL, Robin graduated from Davidson College in 2001 and earned her J.D. from the University of Florida. She practiced law in Florida for 10 years before returning to Camp full-time in 2015 as Director of Development and Alumnae Relations. Robin loves all things Green and Grey!

Frost traces his enthusiasm for the outdoors to summers as a camper at Camp High Rocks in Cedar Mountain, NC. A native of Greenville, SC, Frost first discovered his passion for rock climbing at camp and dedicated many years to becoming an expert level climber and outdoor adventure guide. Frost graduated from Furman University in 2001 and spent a decade in the outdoor retail industry before transitioning to healthcare management, where his responsibilities included financial oversight, human resources, and risk management. Frost loves all time spent outdoors, but especially on the rock.


Frost and Robin live and work at Camp year-round.

STAFF DIRECTOR

MEGAN HAROLD

Megan Harold is our Staff Director. Megan oversees the needs of staff, primarily offering support and guidance as they navigate all aspects of camp counselor life. Megan also leads Merrie-Woode’s Junior Counselor (JC) and Counselor in Training (CIT) programs. In the off-season, Megan oversees staff recruitment and hiring, with a focus on maintaining relationships with former counselors.


Megan was a camper from 2010 to 2017, a JC in 2018, and has returned to work on summer staff since 2021. Throughout her time on staff, Megan served Camp as Tumbling Head, Line Head, JC Leader, and Program Office Manager. As Staff Director, she looks forward to maintaining counselor relations and working with the JCs and CITs.


Megan is originally from New Orleans, Louisiana, and earned her undergraduate degree in Integrated Marketing Communications from the University of Mississippi. In her free time you can find her working on a needlepoint project, walking the Lake Trail, or watching a documentary.

PROGRAM DIRECTOR

CAMERON WARD MILLER

Cameron Ward Miller is our Program Director. Cameron designs and delivers programming that is enriching, high quality, and appropriate to Merrie-Woode campers’ ages and abilities. She oversees curriculum development, staff activity training, and skills verification, as well as the care of facilities and equipment for all program areas.


Cameron was a Merrie-Woode camper from 2000 to 2001, then served on the Riding Staff in various roles from 2014 until 2023. During that time, Cameron also worked as the year-round intern for two years. Before returning to Merrie-Woode in 2026, Cameron was the Education Director at the Boys and Girls Club of the Plateau from 2018 through 2024. She also held several program leader positions guiding youth and traveling in Costa Rica. In addition to her other roles, Cameron was a caretaker at Summer Hill Farm in Cashiers for four years, where she managed a garden and livestock, including sheep, pigs & chickens. Her experience on the farm led her to pursue a passion project for Resources Compost and Collectables. She integrated this interest into all of her endeavors in Cashiers by collecting and redistributing regenerative waste from households and businesses to local gardens.


In her free time Cameron likes to spend time with family and friends sharing food and doing all sorts of fun activities. She seeks beauty in all that she does, whether it be on horseback, through music & art, baking treats, or exploring her own back yard.

DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR

MARY ANN BROUGHTON DANIEL

Mary Ann Broughton Daniel is our Development Director. Mary Ann oversees fundraising for the Merrie-Woode Foundation, alumnae relations, and all things development. Prior to joining the Merrie-Woode staff, she spent five years in development roles in a conservation non-profit and independent school settings.


Mary Ann was a camper from 2006 to 2011, a CA in 2015, and is excited to return to Camp as a full-time staff member. As Development Director, she looks forward to exchanging Camp stories with alumnae and instilling a philanthropic mindset in every Merrie-Woode girl. She is always up for an Old Bald hike or walk around the Lake Trail.


Mary Ann grew up in Winston-Salem, NC with her two sisters, Gracie and Bess (also CMW girls). She lives in Edenton, NC with her husband, Robert, and their basset hound, Rolo. In her free time, she loves strength training, jogging, and reading on the porch. She is thrilled to be back and forth to Camp!

ADVENTURE PROGRAM COORDINATOR

OWEN MILLER

Owen Miller is our Adventure Program Coordinator. Owen oversees Merrie-Woode’s Boating and Mountaineering programs. From flat water and whitewater paddling, to indoor and outdoor climbing, backpacking, hiking, and caving, Owen provides guidance and oversight of adventure programming staff, while ensuring the proper care of facilities and equipment for these activities.


Owen first became familiar with Merrie-Woode through time spent with his family in Sapphire over the summers. He has always enjoyed biking around Lake Fairfield and hiking Old Bald. Owen worked at YMCA Camp Ocoee in Tennessee for two summers from 2016 to 2017, then went on to be the Teen Leadership director at YMCA Camp Marrowbone in South Dakota. Since moving to Cashiers in 2020, Owen spent two years shadowing a master carpenter and eventually started his own carpentry and home repair business.


In the summers Owen would pause his carpentry work to lead and guide raft trips and safety kayak for the Nantahala Outdoor Center on the Chattooga River. In his free time you can find Owen tinkering in his workshop, exploring a wild and wonderful Southeastern river, dangling from the end of a climbing rope, muddy and wet on a mountain bike, sitting around a fire, or plucking his banjo. Owen looks forward to sharing his love of outdoor adventure with Merrie-Woode campers and staff.

COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR

LIBBY CARTER

Libby Carter is our Communications Coordinator. Libby oversees camp communications and coordinates both digital and printed materials. She also manages our social media channels and assists in communicating with parents, helping keep the entire Merrie Woode family informed, engaged, and connected.


Libby was a camper from 2010 to 2018, a JC in 2019, and has worked on staff in various roles from 2021 to 2024. In her time on staff, Libby served as a Line Head, River Coordinator, Would-Be Leader, and Program Office Assistant. As Communications Coordinator, she’s excited to share Camp’s story, celebrating its traditions, helping families feel connected, and staying closely involved in a community she loves.


Libby is originally from Tampa, FL and earned her degree in Marketing from the Terry School of Business at The University of Georgia in May of 2024. Outside of work, she loves to travel, do hot yoga and go on long walks listening to podcasts. She currently lives in Charleston, SC, but is more than excited to be situated at Camp for the summer season!

OFFICE MANAGER

AMY PRESSLEY

Amy oversees a variety of things at Camp Merrie-Woode. She is usually your first point of contact when reaching the office. She also handles all of camps housing, wedding and event rentals and schedules, as well as the Stock Shop. 


Amy was a former employee of Camp Merrie-Woode from 2008-2014. She took some time off to be with her family and returned in 2022 as the office manager. 


Amy’s husband, Jody, is the head of our Facilities Crew. Their three children, Anthony, Christian, and Taylor, as well as their nephew, Evan, have all worked at Merrie-Woode over the years. Amy enjoys her little slice of heaven on the Pressley farm near Lake Glenville. She is looking forward to her granddaughter being a future Merrie-Woode girl.

CAMP REGISTRAR

ANNETTE HERSTEK

Annette Herstek is our Camp Registrar. Annette oversees camper registration, summer preparations, and database management.


Annette served Merrie-Woode as the Office Manager from 2002-2007. She came back in 2017 in the same role after taking several years off to spend time with her children as they were growing up. She was promoted to Camp Registrar in 2018.


A former camp parent herself, Annette’s daughter, Courtney, attended camp from 2003-2005, and her son, Austin, worked on the Facilities Crew during the summer months. Annete lives with her husband, Rob, in Cashiers.

HORTICULTURIST AND SPECIAL PROJECTS COORDINATOR

LAURIE BENTON

Laurie Benton is our Horticulturist and Special Projects Coordinator. Laurie oversees Camp’s natural landscape, including designing, planning, and maintaining the property. Laurie will also be assisting other year-round staff with various projects at Camp along with coordinating and facilitating nature programing for the campers during the season.


Laurie is a dedicated horticulturist originally from Keene, New Hampshire. She recently earned her associate’s degree in Horticulture Technology from Blue Ridge College. Her professional journey began with conservation work at Southern Highland Reserve in Lake Toxaway. Since then, she committed her knowledge and expertise to the North Carolina Arboretum in the formal gardens, contributing to the preservation and enhancement of the landscape. Laurie resides in Lake Toxaway, where she enjoys a tranquil lifestyle surrounded by nature. When she’s not curled up with a good book, you can find her tending to her garden and exploring the great outdoors with her family.

BOOK KEEPER

DEBI STEWART

Debi Stewart is our Bookkeeper. Debi oversees Merrie-Woode’s financials. You can reach her at Camp on Monday’s and Tuesdays.


Debi has held this position since 1996! She lives in Cashiers with her husband, CW.

FACILITIES MANAGEMENT CREW

Jody Pressley, Travis Kinsey, and Hunter Kinsey are the able bodies who keep Camp Merrie-Woode running smoothly and looking good! From remodeling and renovation work, building new facilities, keeping up the grounds, and laying beautiful rock work, these folks can do it all!
