July 4th!!!

July 4, 2026

Happy Fourth of July! We are so excited to celebrate America's 250th birthday here at Camp. We do things a little differently on the Fourth, and it's always one of our favorite days of the summer.

The day starts with campers waking up to patriotic music instead of the usual wake-up bell, with hits like Born in the U.S.A. and Party in the U.S.A. playing across camp. Then, campers gather on the steps of their cabins to watch the annual "invasion." Our wonderful barn staff ride through camp shouting, "The British are coming!" on horses painted to match the red, white, and blue of the day, waving to campers as they kick off the festivities.

There are no uniforms on the Fourth of July, so everyone gets decked out in their finest red, white, and blue. Breakfast is another favorite tradition: waffles topped with whipped cream, strawberries, and blueberries! After breakfast, we gather for Castle at the flagpole, where our hosts lead us in patriotic songs before raising the flag. From there, you can even spot the flag we hang on the face of Old Bald every summer (shout out to Frost and the Mountaineering staff!).

While the schedule itself stays mostly the same, the whole camp feels different when everyone is dressed for the occasion. From patriotic songs blasting down at the docks to campers creating flags and festive projects in Arts & Crafts, there is no shortage of Fourth of July spirit around camp.

At lunch, the celebration continued with not one, but two impromptu dance parties. One of our Hip Hop classes even broke out into the Footloose dance, bringing the whole Dining Hall to its feet. The fun isn't over yet, though! We are so excited to head out to the Inn Site this evening for one of our favorite Fourth of July traditions: Carnival!!!

It's been a wonderful Fourth of July so far, and we can't wait to see what the rest of the evening has in store. From all of us under Old Bald, we hope you have a happy and safe Independence Day!

Chug-a-wump,

We have been having the best time beneath Old Bald during Main Session! Our activities are well underway, and our campers are making the most of every moment at Camp. We wanted to give you a glimpse into the day-to-day happenings in some of our activities. In Riding, campers learned all about the important work that happens before getting in the saddle, including grooming, tacking, and preparing their horses for a ride. Over at the tennis courts, campers have been working to pass levels, with many setting their sights on reaching the highest level: Ace! In our visual arts classes, campers are beginning their first projects of the summer. In Stained Glass, campers have been learning the process from start to finish as they plan, design, and begin creating beautiful pieces.

One of our favorite evening programs made its return this week… Minute to Win It! With 60 seconds on the clock, campers, JCs, and even staff took on a whole lineup of hilarious challenges. The night was hosted by our wonderful Evening Program Princesses, with the help of a few of our JCs, and it did not disappoint. We kicked things off with a game that seemed simple: tossing a ping pong ball into a stack of cups. The catch? Each time you made it, you had to stack another cup on top, balancing it on the ball and making your tower taller, wobblier, and much harder to manage.
