Thomas and his wife, Lisa, have lived in Cashiers for over thirty years, with two daughters (both CMW campers) and a son.  Thomas enjoys a long family history with CMW, beginning with director/owner grandparents Fritz and Augusta Orr in the early 1950’s, followed by his uncle Fritz and Dottie Orr through 1978. Following college (all five family members attended Davidson College) Thomas and Lisa worked in Kenya and Sudan, teaching and managing community development and refugee relief. He completed his M.S. at Duke University in Natural Resource Economics prior to several local development projects including Lake Toxaway and Lonesome Valley.  He currently serves as Assistant Pastor of Community Bible Church in Highlands. His civic involvement includes board member of Summit Charter School, past president of Highlands-Cashiers Land Trust and current president of International Partnerships, providing church development and relief support for Ukraine.
