Outdoor Adventure Coordinator
JP Bevilaqua became our Outdoor Adventure Coordinator in 2012. He first came to work for Merrie-Woode in the summer of 2008. Since then he has established himself as an invaluable member of camp’s Boating Staff. Campers and counselors of recent years have benefited greatly from his instruction and guidance on rivers and coaching on Lake Fairfield. As Outdoor Adventure Coordinator, JP oversees camp’s Mountaineering, Boating, Swimming, and Riding Programs. During camp’s offseason (September through April) he works to coordinate and develop programming in these areas. JP then transitions into full-time status each summer to work more closely with the activity heads of these programs while continuing to have a strong presence on river trips and within the Merrie-Woode Boating Program.
JP graduated from the University of Colorado with a degree in Environmental Science. Not only does JP enjoy his time in a boat, he is a rock climbing enthusiast, on and off-road cyclist, and two-time US National Kayaking team qualifier. JP lives with his wife, Sommerville, in Asheville, NC.
