Happy Chapel!
Today is the very first Chapel of the session! The campers started off the day with a warm and lovely outdoor Chapel service. I was overjoyed by the surprise violin presentation, the wonderful songs sung by our own Sunday Choir. After the service had finished, the counselors began the traditional announcing of Sunday activity sign-ups, and I have to say, wow! What a whir of exciting activities today.
Not just four, but FIVE camp trips in one day; Grimshaws, Silver Run, White Side, Old Bald, and Dam Swim. Not to mention the Slip N’ Slide, Wool Spinning, and Boating happed all day long. To prep for the big day ahead of them, the girls chowed down on traditional Sunday fried chicken and mashed potatoes for lunch; unfortunately that meant no leftovers for me.
When the clock struck six, my tree trembled with the rush of hundreds of campers running past. Cook-Out time; and the theme for the very first Cook-Out of Main? Dynamic Duos! Plus, what could be better for a Dynamic Duo Dinner than Hotdogs and Hamburgers with Ketchup and Mustard?
For tonight’s evening program, my favorite of them all: Deck the Counselor! Who wouldn’t want to see their favorite camp counselor dressed up in an assortment of tutus, Mardi Gras beads, chicken suits, and glow in the dark face paint? What a perfect way to kick start Main Session!
From my favorite tree,
