Signing Off!

I cannot believe Merrie Woode’s 97th summer has come and gone! It has been my honor to watch generation after generation of Merrie Woode girls ride horses down the Lake Trail, paddle on Lake Fairfield, and perform on the Castle Stage. Thank you for making me a part of this place

What a bittersweet last day of camp! We began the morning with breakfast as usual and then met in Chapel for a special last-day Devotional. There, we had time to recognize everyone’s accomplishments this session! From Swimming to Archery to the Old Bald Hike, it was exciting to

God of the Hills…

I awoke very early to the sound of a camp van—it was the Caving Trip heading out for a day at Worley’s Cave in Tennessee. Then, just after breakfast I waved goodbye to two more trips: a river trip to the Lower Green and an all-day climb at Looking Glass Rock. All of the campers

What a beautiful Sunday at Merrie Woode! Everyone slept in an extra half an hour before gathering in our Sunday Whites for breakfast in the Dining Hall. After time to clean cabins and trunks, we met in the beautiful Chapel by the lake. Our special guest speaker Liza Bance spoke

The Castle Review!

I spent the whole day discovering the artistic spirit of Merrie Woode’s campers. First, I visited Jewelry, where I found campers making amazing photo holders out of copper wiring, beads, and rocks that they found around camp! I then ventured over to Stained Glass, where everyone

Sundaes, Balloons, and Bears, Oh My!

Dance, Dance

I was so filled with folly when I woke up today that I just had to dance! I snuck into Tap Class to get my feet moving. I loved our little warm-up combinations; it was such fun! I stuck around for Hip Hop to check out what song they’re choosing for their Final Shows piece. Can’t

We Like Swimming in the Lake…

After breakfast this morning I followed my nose to an oddly familiar smell… It was my llama friends! Mark the Llama Man was visiting Nature Classes today. Campers learned all about llamas; how to care for them, what they can and cannot eat, and what kinds of things they do! Did

When the Girls of Merrie Woode Gather Anywhere…

I awoke to the sound of the Wake-Up Bell at exactly 7:45. Excitedly, I grabbed my favorite baseball cap and swung through the trees down to camp. I couldn’t wait for the first day of activities! After breakfast, everyone had time to make their beds and tidy their cabins for Cabin
