Remember the Days You Spent Here…
Today was the last day of activities! And what an exciting day it was. Campers in Sewing Class were finishing up their aprons and wearing them over their middies around camp! It was so fun. Nature Classes were playing Bird-Opoly and discussing all the amazing things they learned this session! After classes we had the Art Show, where everyone’s finished projects from Sewing, Stained Glass, Ceramics, Arts and Crafts, Knitting, Nature, Photography, and Jewelry were on display for all of camp to come and see! It all looked amazing!
The day at the docks was also very exciting. It’s Proficiency Day, where campers who are passing any boating level this session were showing off all of the skills that they learned in that level. It is impressive to see all of the passion and hard work our campers put into this program! I am so proud of each and every one of them!
Tonight’s Evening Program was Closing Campfire. Twenty-nine campers received their Merrie Woode Bracelets! I cannot articulate just how grateful I am to have watched them all grow over the past several years. I consider myself blessed to have watched generation after generation of Merrie Woode girls come forward to receive their little symbol of Merrie Woode to take home to the real world. Tonight’s Taps was sung from the Swim Docks, where Denice also recited Dammie and Ruth’s Closing Prayer. I hope that every camper takes these words with her as she returns to her home:
“God of the Hills, grant my Thy strength to go back into the cities without faltering, strength to help my neighbor who has no hills to remember…”
With love,
Tajar
P.S. I have two new special albums up on the photo-sharing site. The first is from Director’s Showcase and can be found just below July 24th. The second is from Fiddler on the Roof and will be under July 28th. I hope you enjoy the photos! Both shows were fantastic!
