And ye who would serve the King…
The counselors received their cabin assignments this morning! It was a very exciting day spent moving into cabins and preparing everything for Opening Day. The posters and name tags are all looking quite beautiful! We also had several emergency drills—JP jumped into the lake fully clothed for our Waterfront Drill. Flip flops and all! Later in the day, activities had a chance to meet and make final preparations for the campers. I think the activity skits are going to be fantastic this year. After dinner, everyone gathered together to watch some of the counselors perform Follow the Gleam. Our traditional Arthurian pageant is the perfect evening program before the conclusion of Orientation. It is a wonderful reminder of our purpose as we transition to the summer:
“The quest for the Grail was a symbol to them that their lives were dedicated to follow the best that was in their hearts. We at Merrie-Woode believe that in our own way, we have achieved this goal. We believe that we, even as they, can dedicate our lives to service. “
Tomorrow at noon, the counselors will be dismissed for a day off. Keep a lookout for an upload from Merrie Woode!
