God of the Hills…
I was sleeping in my tree this morning and awoke to an unusual sound… It wasn’t the bell, it was Hannah Montana! When I made my way to breakfast, I found that it was a Bum’s Rest prank! They had not only taken over the Wake-Up Bell, but also the entire Dining Hall. It was decorated with noodles, kickboards, and Hannah Montana signs that they had made! And the entire cabin was dressed in Hannah and Miley costumes! So funny!
I can’t believe it’s already the last day of activities. I tried to make the absolute best of my day. As I often do, I began the day with a dip in the lake. Over at the Canoe Dock, the campers were going down canoe slides! There was plenty of laughter and fun to go around as they slid down overturned canoes into the lake. Everyone was enjoying their last day on Lake Fairfield!
After Fourth Period was the Art Show, where campers from all of camp’s different arts classes displayed their creations! There were Herbies from Knitting, gorgeous Stained Glass, beautiful watercolor paintings from Arts and Crafts, adorable aprons from Sewing, mounted photographs from Photography, and so much more!
Tonight’s Evening Program was Closing Campfire. There were twenty-eight girls who received their Merrie Woode Bracelets tonight! I am so proud to have watched them all grow over their past six summers. Tonight’s Taps was sung from the Swim Docks, where Denice also recited Dammie and Ruth’s Closing Prayer. I hope that every camper takes these words with her as she returns to her home:
“God of the Hills, grant me Thy strength to go back into the cities without faltering, strength to help my neighbor who has no hills to remember…”
Much love,
Tajar
