I WISH FOR YOU MY FRIEND, THIS HAPPINESS THAT I’VE FOUND…
I was fully prepared for the rain shower that rolled in over Old Bald first thing this morning. I’ve wizened up and am the proud new owner of the sleek black CMW rain jackets that are now sold in the stock shop! Luckily the rain stopped right before breakfast, the blue skies and sun came out, and campers charged into the day.
After a hearty breakfast of eggs and bacon, I made my way up to Castle to listen to announcements. On my way up the hill, a van pulled down the road trailering a dozen kayaks towards the chilly Nantahala. The Starmate Level Boaters had their final day on the whitewater to demonstrate river rolls for a requirement in “Ki.” Mountaineering had a full day; they offered the final wall climb and High Ropes Course of the session this morning.
The pizza at lunch today was on point! I gorged on pepperoni and cheese pizza, and then I made my way up to my favorite tree limb and took a nap during rest hour to make sure that I was refreshed for the afternoon. I went down to the waterfront to see campers playing in the brief rain shower that hovered over camp just as third period was starting. Even with the rain, the campers still were paddling and playing in the water. I scurried to the bang shop where it was nice and dry and saw Dolores helping campers finish their projects before the end of the session. Dolores makes everyone smile with her jovial stories and adventurous spirit. Down in the dance studio, campers were finalizing their performances for final shows. These girls have been working hard for the past five weeks and everyone is excited to see the choreography that each class has put together. We have so many unique dance classes here at Merrie-Woode; I watched a modern ballet run-through, a hip-hop run-through, and I’ve even see girls dancing in their tap shoes! I should get some tap shoes to dance on the docks in the moonlight…
Tonight was opening night for Little Shop of Horrors! I won’t say too much, because I don’t want to spoil the excitement for the Knight campers and guests who are going to watch tomorrow night’s performance. Please check out the notice below if you’re planning on attending!
