I DON’T WANT TO SAY GOODBYE TO YOU…
It is hard to believe that today was the final day of Main Session. What a beautiful five weeks we have had under Old Bald!
Instead of normal activities, the girls were able to go back to their cabins and begin the packing process after breakfast. From the roof of Wit’s End, I saw a colorful array of trunks starting to form in a line in front of the Program Office. I may or may not have FedEx’d some of the Witch’s belonging home with a camper or two as a prank, so don’t be surprised if you find yourself unpacking tea sets and broomsticks!
Everyone gathered in Chapel mid-morning to have the final Castle of the session. The two youngest cabins, Mushroom and Du Kum Inn, gave the last devotional, which encouraged all to take in the last few hours of camp and the delightful people and opportunities here.
Awards and accomplishments took quite a hunk of time, because so many young women took leaps and bounds this session! Six new Captains joined the ranks of the ladies in white hats, four brilliant girls earned 30 or more points in the King’s Player program to become the KPs of 2014, and three new Horsemasters boasted purple ribbon on their helmets as a symbol of their hard work. There were three page campers who passed Admiral (the highest level in sailing); what a feat! Hundreds of certificates were given out for bullseyes and levels passed in archery, completion of the dam swim, tennis and riding levels, and tumbling levels. A handful of campers dedicated to mountaineering activities earned old school Merrie-Woode patches for their achievements in backpacking, climbing, and hiking. There were too many goals achieved this session for a listing here to suffice, but we are all so proud of the hard working and fun loving Main Session 2014 campers.
It’s just goodnight and not goodbye,
Tajar
