THE PEPPIEST CAMP
Today was another classic day at camp filled with many activities and fun trips. The day started with a trip leaving for Chimney Top, a hike which provides a 360 degree view of the area. I can only imagine how far their eyes could travel, sighting the breathtaking landscape of mountains. Another trip left after the chicken noodle soup and Philly cheese steak lunch. A group of girls left with the Mountaineering crew to go tubing. Some of the girls elected to use the afternoon to take a caving skills class, allowing them to go caving at Worley’s Cave at some point in the session. I have never been caving, however, it sounds like the perfect place for a Tajar to play and explore.
After day dreaming about what fun caving would be, I swung by the ceramics class to get my tucks dirty in some clay. The girls were creating projects based on the Merrie-Woode virtue, generosity. They worked in pairs to create pieces meant to giveaway to someone else here at camp. (I may have overheard some campers making a surprise for me!) The girls also got to take turns using the wheel with their instructor. Soon, the shelves will be filled with beautifully glazed bowls, mugs, and flower vases.
Although those glaze colors can be very bright, the most colorful part of today was evening program. We had Bingo night in the Dining Hall and the theme was “Brights and Tights.” All the girls wore their bright colors and costumes, including neon tops and crazy patterned tights. I tried my luck at Bingo, but it was to no avail, the prize was not for me. I may not have had a winning card, but that did not stop me from having a blast at the dance party towards the end of the night!
After busting out my many sporadic dance moves, I am off to bed!
