RISE AND SHINE
I woke up to the wake up bell promptly at 8:00 to start my day. I knew it was going to be a great day because there were French toast sticks for breakfast. After all, no day could ever go awry after devouring French toast sticks (with extra syrup, of course). With sticky tucks, I headed over to the other side of camp for the morning devotional.
Castle was extra peppy this morning as the cabin of Briar Patch led us in the song “Rise and Shine”, which was another indicator that today would be terrific. As the song encourages, I left Castle ready to give the day my best. I scurried down to the Landsports field. The campers were playing an intense game of kickball, so I asked to join in. Both teams played hard and the girls displayed brilliant sportsmanship. The game ended in a Merrie-Woode Tie and we all celebrated with a dance party!
Even though it rained this afternoon, we were still able to participate in our regular activities. I stopped by Arts & Crafts to see what new works were being made. The girls were working on sketches of Old Bald, so I posed for them on the waterfall field. I anticipate some future artists coming from that talented class. I can’t wait to see the finished products in the Art Show on Visitation Day!
The evening program tonight was right up my alley! A Scavenger Hunt around camp is the perfect ending to a day under Old Bald. The girls were divided into two teams and were led by the two oldest cabins. Bum’s Rest and Camelot led the girls in team cheers before the Hunt began to see who had the most spirit. I watched from the high branches of the trees as the girls searched all over for trivia answers and fun facts about camp, the directors, and even me! Here are two of my favorite questions from the evening: How many chairs are in the Dining Hall? And What is the name of the Dunn’s house? I’ll help you out with the answers. There are 312 chairs in the Dining Hall and Tintagel is the name of the Dunn’s house.
Off to go help Jim play Taps,
