New CMW Staff Training Videos!
Hello, Camp Merrie-Woode Staff!
I’m thrilled to announce some exciting developments in our staff-training program. Available on our new website are a handful of Staff Training Videos that we made over the course of the off-season. This is very exciting and, to my knowledge, is something that very few other programs in the region are doing. These videos came together very well thanks to director and editor, Sara Huffman. Personally, I think these videos will represent a camp adventure program, of which we are all a part, that is committed to the highest quality of outdoor education.
The goal of making these videos is two-fold. They are intended to be a resource for you all in preparing to be on staff for the summer (ie. practicing knots, belay technique, stove use, etc.), and also to provide a template for how to teach these skills to your campers. Currently, we have a handful of videos that are geared toward Mountaineering and Boating related skills. The long-term goal is to continue building a training video library that will contain a variety of videos in all our Adventure Programming areas, including Riding and Swimming.
Our staff should take advantage of this resource and review the videos relevant to their respective program areas prior to arriving at camp for the summer. The more prepared we are as a staff when we arrive for pre-orientation, the less we will have to review and the more we will be able to accomplish during that very important time. So, please help us make the most of this great new opportunity by watching these videos and practicing the skills they illustrate before coming to camp.

Time to get ready for what I know will be an awesome summer!
Best to All,
JP
